Your first true love?

My first true love was literature. I vividly remember falling for Serendipity Books by Stephen Cosgrove. I can recall names like Serendipity, Flutterby and Butterwings. When I read to my daughter words resurface tucked away in my memory like a treasure for all these years. Who could forget something as magical as a winged horse unfurling from a cocoon and whining in the moonlight? I always remembered the creatures with their shy eyes and vivid colors. Reading these books gave me the keys to life and magic spilled out. I bought Flutterby for my daughter so that we can soak up the magic together.
I've found the best selection of Serendipity books HERE
( Just so you know Stephen Cosgrove and Amazon gave me a ton of nothing to drop their name for pointing you their way. Anything praised on this blog is brought to you out of nothing more than a desire to share a slice of happiness)

So what was the first book you remember falling for?
Just post a question to join in on Aloha Friday, hosted by An Island Life!

Wow, I loved your description! My first books that 'hooked me' were the Little House books. I could read them over and over.

I love Butterwings! I got that many years ago and ended up giving it to my niece (this is before having my daughter mind you). I have wanted to purchase another copy so peanut could have the chance to enjoy it.
I had a love of books from early on and often read stuff that was more grown up than what I should have been reading. The first one that I truly remember changing me was when I was 11 years old, my older brother had an English assignment to read a certain novel but he just left it laying around the house. Being the bookworm I was, I picked it up and was enthralled from moment one. Of Mice and Men. Didn't see that coming did you? lol I LOVE LOVE LOVE that book! Just a beautiful yet tragic story and my little 11 year old brain picked it up and fell immediately into that world.I will never forget that book.

For me, it's a toss up between the Wizard of Oz series, the Chronicles of Narnia, and Little House on the Prairie.

As a kid my biggest memories are of the book Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. The way it made my imagination go was special. Later on it was The Diary of Anne Frank.

I can't remember the first book I fell in love with. There were soooo many! I couldn't get my hands on enough of them back in the day, nor can I now for that matter.

Though my fav all time childrens book is "Where the Wild Things Are". For four reasons:

It was hubs fav book. It was my eldest fav book. My youngest favorite book now and it was one of my favorites when I was a wee thing. I think that rocks.

We had so many books in our house growing up, and one that I put off reading because I thought it looked boring (the cover, you know) was Tuck Everlasting. I was so glad I finally ran out of other books! I still have the same copy in my house now.

A series I treasure is the Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander. We only had the first book, The Book of Three, and I didn't know there were others until high school. But I own the whole set now!

I fell in love with the TRixie Beldon series. It was an old set of mystery books. You can't even get them now, and hard to even find in libraries.

have a great weekend.

I was mesmerized by the whole Nancy Drew Mystery series. I couldn't wait until each new addition to the series came out. To this day I have kept the whole collection. I always thought my daughter would read them but she never did. xoxo Amy Arnaz

I loved those books for my daughters but for me my first love was the Dr. Suess books. I was a first generation for them and they are still my favorite ones. My favorite was Green Eggs and Ham. I used to be able to recite it. I also love Bambi. Mother read it to us and then we had the record, yes record of it done by Shirley Temple. We listened to it every, every, everyday for naptime and I COULD recite every line of the recorded story, still can some.

I can't remember the title of my first book. However I remember parts of the plot and the heroine's name. Sage. It was a book I shouldn't have been reading at that age, but I hid and read it. I read everything in sight! And well that was one of them which stayed with me all these years and sadly I cannot remember the title.
